3rd December 2014 to 9th December 2014

Dancing Mountains are happy to invite you to a Rohatsu Sesshin at Sandymount, Crosby, England
LED BY INGEN BREEN
WITH SHUNDO DAVID HAYE AS INO

We come to sesshin primarily to engage wholeheartedly in practice. Sesshin means to ‘gather the mind’ and Rohatsu sesshin is the primary sesshin of the Zen calendar. Literally meaning the 8th day of the 12th month, December 8th Rohatsu is the celebration of the Buddha’s Enlightenment and Rohatsu sesshin is the sesshin leading up to or including December 8th. We will spend 5 full days gathering the mind in zazen and mindful living. After sitting together through all or part of the final night we will end sesshin in the early morning with a celebration of the Buddha's enlightenment.
The story goes, in The Transmission of the Light, case 1, that Shakyamuni Buddha was enlightened upon seeing the morning star, Venus.

The Sesshin will start at 3pm on the 3rd December and end at lunch time on the 9th.
